FAO: Kronisk sultkatastrofe truer Asien - investeringer i landbruget kan være en del af løsningen
BANGKOK, 1 June 2010 (IRIN) - Chronic hunger has worsened in recent years, and Asia – home to two-thirds of those suffering – must invest strongly in agriculture to avert this crisis, says the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). More than one billion people in the world, including 642 million in Asia, live in chronic hunger, up from 840 million in the mid-1990s.

IFU sætter investeringsrekord
I 2009 indgik Industrialiseringsfonden for Udviklings-landene (IFU) aftale om investeringer for 642 mio. kr.
Det er en stigning på over 40 procent i forhold til 2008 og ny rekord for institutionen, der i sin tid blev skabt som "Kaffefonden" (benævnt efter den kaffetold, hvorfra fonden hentede sine første indtægter).
