UNDP-chef: Vi må arbejde sammen med de nye stærke u-lande om den globale bistand
International development agencies faced a “diminishing market” unless they partnered large emerging economies to bring development to the worlds poorest countries, Helen Clark, the head of the United Nations Development Programme, warned on Tuesday.
Ms Clark said the New-York based UNDP was seeking a global partnership with India, China and Brazil to deliver investment, technology and expertise to other developing countries.
- I have been consciously positioning UNDP to see ourselves as a central facilitator for south-south exchange. Our history has been one of transmission [of funds and expertise] from north to south, Ms Clark said in an interview with the Financial Times.
- But the south-south co-operation paradigm is expanding very, very fast and we need to be well positioned to work with it, noted she, also warning, that the UN was being damaged by not having greater participation from large emerging economies, like India, at its core.
